This stunning, chrome plated, HMV Room Heater, often called the “Bee Hive Heater” was designed by Christian Barman in 1934 and made by HMV Factories, Hayes, Middlesex after 1938. The heater features four stacked blades, fitted with a fan and elements inside.
Christian Barman (1898-1980) was an architect, Industrial designer, and the editor of the Architectural Review. Barman was an influential promoter of the Modernist Design movement. This design is on display in both the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the V & A Museum.
